Ramutė Ruškytė was engaged in legal work from 1985 to 1993 in the Municipality of Vilnius City, the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania and the National Service for Science, Studies and Technology. In the period 1994-2001 she was a consultant at the Legal Division of the Office of the Government, and later – the Head of the Legal Department of the Office of the Government. In 1999 – 2001 she was the head of the working group of experts established by the Prime Minister, which was responsible for the assessment of the new draft Criminal Code, Civil Code and the Code of Civil Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania. She worked as an advocate, Associate Professor at the Law University of Lithuania, Director of the Law Department of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, and in 2005 she was appointed Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania.
She improved her qualification in the sphere of human rights at Birmingham University (UK, 1993), in the sphere of international law – during her internship in the Hague Academy of International Law (the Netherlands, 1995), and in the sphere of the organisation of public service in London, in 1999.
She is the co-author of the textbook “Civilinė teisė” [Civil Law] (Vilnius 2004, 2007) and the book “Legal Aspects of Religious Freedom” (Ljubljana, Slovenia, 2008). She has published more than 20 academic publications (in Lithuanian, Russian, English, French, Polish and Latvian).
