Sergo Mananashvili is a Research Assistant responsible for the Legal Module of the CARIM-East project (an Observatory of Migration East of Europe) at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. He graduated in Law from the Faculty of International Law and International Relations of Tbilisi State University and obtained his master’s degree (LL.M.) in European Law from Europa-Institut of Saarland University (Germany) where he also defended his PhD thesis on possibilities and limits of international and European law enforcement of the Geneva Refugee Convention. Dr. Mananashvili has worked as a Legal Adviser in a UNHCR-funded project on legal protection of refugees and IDPs in Georgia and served later as a Research Officer in the section of European Law and European Migration Network (EMN) of German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. He is an Associated Member of Institut Pierre Pescatore – Droits, Libertés, Europe et Globalisation at the University of La Rochelle.
