Epilogue: The Value of Citizenship for Individuals and States

The GLOBALCIT Annual Conference The Value of Citizenship for Individuals and States took place at the EUI on 21 and 22 November 2019. Marking the tenth anniversary of GLOBALCIT, the event was a truly special one.

The two keynote speeches, papers presented in seven panels, and a book roundtable, engaged over 40 academics in discussing what citizenship means in an increasingly globalised world. The quality of papers presented at the conference, participant’s engagement and collaborative spirit during the discussions, have all contributed to the success of this year’s annual gathering of citizenship scholars.

Photos taken during the event are available here. Additional comments (and a full live-tweet series) are available on our Twitter and Facebook channels, on the Twitter channel and on the website of the Global Governance Programme. A short news item about our co-director Jo Shaw’s keynote address has also been published on the website of the Edinburgh Law Faculty. We will soon publish a more comprehensive update through our newsletter .

The GLOBALCIT team is thankful to everyone who took part in the conference.
