Avner de Shalit (D.Phil Oxford 1990) teaches political theory at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is the author of 8 books, most recently The Spirit of Cities (Princeton UP 2011, with Daniel Bell) and  Cities and Immigration (Oxford UP 2018). He is currently working with Jonathan Wolff on a book on inequality in cities. de Shalit served as dean of the faculty of social sciences at the Hebrew University (2009-2012). In 2015 he was awarded the Rotschild prize in social sciences and in 2018 he was awarded the EMET prize.
