Dr. Nor Sakinah Omar is a Malaysian researcher and academic specialising in public policy, migration governance, political science, and Southeast Asian history. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and an M.A. in Southeast Asian History from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and a B.A. in Political Science from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
Her research examines migration policy and governance in Malaysia, with particular interests in undocumented migration, migration control, and policy transfer. Her doctoral research explored Malaysia’s management of undocumented migrants through a policy transfer approach. Her interdisciplinary training in political science, public policy, and Southeast Asian history informs her research and teaching experience in contemporary Malaysian political, Southeast Asian history, and related social sciences.
