President Valdis Zatlers proposed to amend Latvian Citizenship Law to allow dual citizenship. The amendment is meant to strengthen emigrants’ ties with Latvia: “those who left Latvia in the wake of the Soviet occupation, as well as their children, and those who have left the country after the restoration of independence”.
