The law on dual citizenship adopted in Parliament in June came into effect on 1 September.
As of today, applicants to Danish citizenship will no longer have to renounce their citizenship of origin. Meanwhile, all Danes who already gave up up their Danish citizenship when acquiring another one will have a five-year window to apply for its reinstatement.
