EEA nationals now need EEA Permanent Residence before applying for British citizenship

On 22 October, the United Kingdom (UK) parliament adopted a statutory instrument terminating the possibility for EEA nationals and their family members with permanent residence in the UK to apply directly for British citizenship. Once the new legislation takes effect, on 12 November, EEA nationals and their family members will be required to first obtain an  EEA Permanent Residence document.
