On 13 June 2023, the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, UNICEF, and UN Women met with leaders from governments to call for action to end gender-based discrimination in nationality laws. The meeting was held in Geneva, and heard from Eswatini, Iraq, and Kiribati. These states reiterated their ongoing goal to reach gender equality in their citizenship laws.
