High court rules the refusal to grant British citizenship to a family of a potential extremist unlawful

High court judges have ruled that the home secretary’s decision to reject applications from the wife and two adult children of an Egyptian Islamist, a potential extremist, unlawful. Judges said that the home secretary acted unlawfully because ‘ parliament had not expressly provided that British citizenship could be refused to deter others from engaging in extremism in the future’.
