Scotland: proposal to give votes to 16 and 17 year-olds in Holyrood elections

 

Following the September 2014 Referendum on Independence where the minimum age for voting was lowered from 18 to 16, power is being transferred to Holyrood to legislate on this matter in future Scottish parliament elections.

 

The House of Lords select committee on the Constitution has criticised the incremental and piecemeal way in which a new constitutional norm seems to be appearing.
