Suriname
Hamied Ahmadali studied law at the University of Suriname and the University van Amsterdam. He worked as an attorney at law from 1985 to 1994, and was active in various other functions, including as a lecturer at the Technical University of Driebergen. He als worked as a research assistant at Utrecht University, where he obtained his PhD in law on the topic of the Agreement concerning the allocation of nationality between Suriname and the Netherlands (“De Toescheidingsovereenkomst inzake nationaliteiten tussen Nederland en Suriname”). He has regularly published on this subject in the Dutch journal Migrantenrecht. He has also published many commentaries on court rulings concerning nationality with regard to Surinamese citizens between 1989 and 2001 in the journal Rechtspraak Vreemdelingenrecht. He is co-author of the section on Suriname in the Kennisbank Burgerzaken. Module Nationaliteitswetgeving since 2001.
