Helmut Philipp Aust, Dr. iur., is Professor of Law at Freie Universität Berlin where he teaches public and international law. He is currently Co-Chair of the ILA Study Group “The Role of Cities in International Law” (together with Janne Nijman). His research interests lie in the fields of public international law and comparative constitutional law with a particular focus on foreign relations law. Publications include “Complicity and the Law of State Responsibility” (CUP 2011), “The Interpretation of International Law by Domestic Courts” (OUP 2016, co-edited with Georg Nolte), “Das Recht der globalen Stadt” (Mohr Siebeck 2017) as well as “The Globalisation of Urban Governance” (Routledge 2019, co-edited with Anél du Plessis).
