Roberto Courtney is an international expert and advisor to governments and civil society organisations on electoral, anticorruption and democratic governance matters, with 25 years of experience in 30 countries of Asia, Africa, Middle East and the Americas.

Dr. Courtney trained as an Economist (Loyola 1988) and Lawyer (Georgetown, 1991), and has significant experience in international complex civil litigation of environmental disasters and entertainment law. Founder of Etica y Transparencia, National Chapter of Transparency International in Nicaragua in 1996, (named by Jimmy Carter in 2001 as “one of the best civic groups in the world”), Dr. Courtney currently serves as its Executive Director.
