Delavari, Eliyeh

Iran

Eliyeh Delavari is a PhD candidate at the Department of Private Law at the Faculty of Law, Maastricht University. Her research focuses on citizenship and statelessness in Iran. It is a comparative study which looks into the grounds for acquisition and loss of nationality and evaluates both the existing safeguards and gaps with regard to the avoidance of statelessness in light of international standards. She is particularly interested in the issues outside the scope of nationality law, primarily in family law such as marriage, parentage, gender discrimination and birth registration which all undoubtedly have impacts on the issue of nationality.
