Costica Dumbrava is Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Political Science of Maastricht University and Executive Coordinator of the Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration, and Development (MACIMIDE). He obtained his PhD in Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute (EUI) with a thesis about ethno-cultural selection in citizenship policies of EU countries. He previously completed a MA degree in European Union Studies at Leiden University and a MA degree in Nationalism Studies at Central European University. His research interests lie in the field of applied political theory, particularly with regard to the issues of citizenship, migration and nationalism. He is currently working on a research project entitled ‘The rights to have rights: benchmarking statelessness protection’ that aims to establish a global database on statelessness.
