University of Konstanz; Germany country expert
Kay Hailbronner is currently Chair of Public Law, Public International Law and European Law at the University of Konstanz and Director of the Centre for International and European Law on Immigration and Asylum. He is also a holder of a Jean-Monnet Chair of European Law and a Robert Schumann Chair on EU-China relations.
The main emphasis of his scientific activities is put on national and international aliens and asylum law, citizenship, university legislation, regulation for awarding contracts as well as on European law.
Among his principal publications there are to be mentioned his monograph Immigration and Asylum Law and Policy of the European Union, his commentary on aliens law (Kommentar Ausländerrecht) and the commentary on citizenship (Kommentar zum Staatsangehörigkeitsrecht, together with G. Renner). Moreover, he is co-editor of the leading journal in aliens law in Germany.
