Prof. Derek Hutcheson is Professor of Political Science at Malmö University, Sweden, where he is also Vice Dean for Doctoral Education of the Faculty of Culture and Society. In autumn 2016, he was a Research Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence, as well as a co-investigator in the ACIT (2011-13), FRACIT (2012-13) and FAIREU (2018-19) projects that were attached to the Global Citizenship Observatory. He has published extensively on electoral politics in the post-Soviet and European contexts, with a focus on electoral behaviour; the development of electoral institutions; and questions surrounding citizenship, migration and enfranchisement. More recently, his focus has also been on the politics of political representation at a local level.
