Dirk Jacobs (1971) is full professor in sociology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where he is director of the “Groupe de recherche sur les Relations Ethniques, les Migrations et l’Egalité” (GERME). He studied at Ghent University, obtained his PhD at Utrecht University and has been affiliated to KUBrussel, KULeuven, University of Amsterdam (UvA), Leibniz Universität Hannover and Université Saint-Louis Bruxelles. Jacobs has been awarded an ERC Starting (consolidator) Grant for the project “Equal opportunities for migrant youth in educational systems with high levels of social and ethnic segregation – assessing the impact of school team resources” (2012-2016). His main research interests are minority-majority relations, immigrant integration, political participation of ethnic minorities and social stratification.
