Amanda Klekowski von Koppenfels, PhD, is Reader in Migration and Politics and Director of the MA International Migration at the Brussels School of International Studies (University of Kent) and holds a PhD from Georgetown. She is the author of Migrants or Expatriates? Americans in Europe; “Federal structure and party politics as simultaneous opportunity and constraint” and “Modeling American migration aspirations: How capital, race, and national identity shape Americans’ ideas about living abroad” (with Helen B.
