Dimitry Kochenov holds a Chair in EU Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Groningen. He got his doctorate from the same University (EU Enlargement and the Failure of Conditionality, Kluwer Law International, 2009) and LL.M. from CEU in Budapest. Dimitry’s research focus splits into five main lines: European Citizenship Law; EU Non-Discrimination and Equality Law; EU External Relations and Enlargement Law; EU Law in the Overseas Possessions; and Rule of Law, Democracy and the Foundations of the European Legal Order. Prof. Kochenov consulted the government of the Netherlands on the application of EU law in the overseas possessions of the Kingdom and has been a guest professor in a number of institutions worldwide, including American Bar Association Rule of Law Promotion Initiative, Osaka Graduate School of Law, Ateneo de Manila and UNAM, Mexico, as well as an Emile Noël Fellow at the Jean Monnet Centre of the NYU Law School. During the last years Prof. Kochenov published articles in Fordham J. Int’l L., Columbia J. Eur. L., Maastricht J. Eur. & Comp. L., Boston Collgege Int’l & Comp. L. Rev., Eur. L. Rev. and numerous others. His latest book include the edited volume ‘EU Law of the Overseas’ (Kluwer Law International, 2011) and ‘The European Union’s Shaping of the International Legal Order’ (co-edited with F Amtenbrink, Cambridge University Press, 2013).
