Low, Choo Chin is a lecturer in the History Department, School of Distance Education, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne. Her academic interests include comparative citizenship, migration, diaspora and deportation studies. She has published in Journal of Historical Sociology, Journal of International Migration and Integration, Europe-Asia Studies, Communist and Post Communist Studies, Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, and Journal of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. She was the recipient of the Taiwan Fellowship (2016) granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China. As a visiting fellow, she worked on immigrant citizenship and naturalisation at Academia Sinica and National Taiwan University (2016).
