Alberto Martín Pérez is Associate Professor at the Sociology Department of the University of Barcelona. He previously worked at the Institute of Public Goods and Policies of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and held visiting positions at different international institutions: European University Institute, University of California San Diego, Université de Montpellier 1. He holds a PhD in Sociology (2007) from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and the University Complutense of Madrid. His main areas of interest deal with citizenship analysis in various dimensions, from the legal and institutional framing of citizenship to the practice, experience and emotion of citizenship, identity and belonging in contemporary societies.
