Barbara Oomen is a professor in the Sociology of Human Rights at Utrecht University, and teaches at UU’s honors college in Middelburg, the University College Roosevelt. She has published extensively on human rights cities and co-edited ‘Global Urban Justice: the rise of human rights cities’. She is the project leader of Cities of Refuge, a project that considers the relevance of human rights (as law, discourse and praxis) to how to how local authorities in Europe welcome and integrate refugees. She is also a board member of the Human Rights Cities network and of the Roosevelt Foundation.
