Annette Schrauwen is professor of European integration, in particular citizenship law and history, at the Law Faculty of the University of Amsterdam and researcher at the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance. She is co-editor of Legal Issues of Economic Integration. The main focus of the research of Annette Schrauwen is on the concept of Union citizenship. Current research projects include the influence of EU citizenship and free movement law on national social policy and national education policy, the empowerment and activation of citizens in EU discourse, electoral rights for EU citizens, citizenship in Association Treaties and the relationship between citizenship, nationality and loyalty.
