Dr Rayner Thwaites’ research is on citizenship status and nationality in their constitutional dimension and as they feature as ‘foreign law’, and the relationship between domestic and international law. His focus is on Commonwealth countries. He is currently working on an Australian Research Council Special Research Initiative, Citizenship and Claims of Belonging in Australian Law and History (2021-24) with Elisa Arcioni and Helen Irving, see https://www.sydney.edu.au/law/our-research/research-projects/citizenship-and-claims-of-belonging-in-australian-law.html.
