The Justice and Development Party (AKP) has submitted a bill to the Turkish parliament substantially changing the criteria of acquisition of citizenship through naturalisation. Among the most controversial aspects of the reform, the bill proposes to introduce a ‘morality clause’ for foreign spouses.
