Rainer Bauböck awarded City of Vienna 2023 Prize in Humanities and Social Sciences

Rainer Bauböck, former professor of Social and Political Theory at the EUI and Co-Director of the Global Citizenship Observatory (GLOBALCIT) and Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schuman Center, EUI has been awarded the 2023 City of Vienna Prize in Humanities and Social Sciences. All award winners are recommended by independent, regularly changing expert juries. The jury report says that “Rainer Bauböck is a world-renowned citizenship researcher and democratic theorist. He also researches and publishes on normative political theory, European integration, migration, nationalisms and minority rights. He has been a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 2013. His involvement in policy advice regarding citizenship issues and migration shows the high practical relevance of his work.”
